About Microsoft Azure Core
Azure Core is at the forefront of innovation for Microsoft’s Cloud and Artificial Intelligence (AI) mission. The team designs and builds foundational primitives, platforms, hardware and services that power current and next generation applications, including Generative AI. This role is central to Microsoft’s success in expanding Azure Cloud, introducing new hardware products, and enhancing platform quality.
Role Overview: Principal Technical Program Manager
The Principal Technical Program Manager will design developer tools and platforms that accelerate Azure Cloud expansion and drive future scale in Microsoft Cloud’s hardware lifecycle. Leading a team of technical program managers, you will collaborate with engineering leaders across Microsoft, ensuring engineering velocity, risk mitigation, and delivery of strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Secure executive support for cross-divisional initiatives and build trust with stakeholders.
- Provide strategic guidance for designing technical solutions with software and hardware teams.
- Oversee risk identification and use data-driven mitigations across teams.
- Drive collaboration to define success criteria and manage product roadmaps.
- Champion the adoption of generative AI tools to streamline planning and decision-making.
- Monitor industry trends and update practices to maintain a cutting-edge approach.
Qualifications
Required: Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years experience in related fields with 3+ years managing cross-functional projects and 1+ year in people management. Experience with developer platforms, orchestration platforms, and large-scale distributed systems.
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree and 12+ years experience with 8+ years managing projects and 4+ years in people management. Experience with graph databases and developer languages for cloud resource management is highly valued.
Compensation
Technical Program Management M5 base pay ranges from USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year across the U.S., with higher ranges in San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan areas. Additional benefits and compensation details available on Microsoft Careers.
