Overview
The Principal Researcher at Microsoft DKI is responsible for conducting frontier research in AI/ML, software engineering, human-computer interaction, and data analytics. The role focuses on transforming state-of-the-art research into impactful technologies used in Microsoft products such as M365 Copilot.
Responsibilities
- Identify research gaps and incorporate leading insights into the pipeline.
- Lead collaborative research efforts and manage multi-project agendas.
- Contribute to ethics, privacy policies, and technology standards.
- Expand strategic relationships with product and business leaders.
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to influential publications.
- Represent Microsoft externally to grow networking and research strategy.
Qualifications
- Doctorate or equivalent in a relevant field with 3+ years research experience.
- Proven record in research and innovation with impactful publications.
- Excellent communication, influencing skills, and high quality work standards.
- Ability to pass Microsoft Cloud Background Check and other security screenings.
Preferred
- Advanced research experience (5+ years preferred).
- Experience as a lead author in top academic conferences.
