About the Role

The Customer Experience and Success (CE&S) organization at Microsoft is on a mission to empower customers to accelerate business value through differentiated customer experiences. We are accelerating AI transformation for our customers and the world.

Within CE&S, the Customer Service & Support (CSS) organization builds trust and confidence by delivering a seamless support experience. We use Microsoft’s AI technology to help consumers, businesses, and partners resolve issues quickly and securely, preventing future problems and helping them achieve more from their Microsoft investment.

The Technical Presales and Deployment Services (TPD) team provides technical consultations to eligible Microsoft partners, assisting them in planning, building, and deploying solutions across the Microsoft AI portfolio, including AI Business Solutions, Cloud AI, and Security AI. TPD accelerates partner sales, adoption, and capability scores in customer success, skilling, and performance, with a strong focus on AI, solution design, and cloud consumption.

About the Partner Technical Consultant Role

The Partner Technical Consultant (PTC) supports Microsoft partners by identifying requirements and offering tailored technical recommendations. The primary experience should be with Security, with added advantage in Microsoft’s Modern Workplace products. This role involves collaboration with stakeholders in Asia to enhance engagement and partner outcomes, requiring strong teamwork skills and the ability to deliver strategic insights while upholding technical standards in a fast-paced environment.

You will cultivate Microsoft Partner capabilities by facilitating proactive consultative services. Your role will support partners in accelerating their sales cycle by helping them design, develop, and deploy customer solutions based on Microsoft technologies and methodologies. The primary focus will be on presales, driving skills transfer, adoption of Microsoft products & solutions, and deployment to help drive partner business. This is a primarily technical role with a strong Security solution focus.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor to Microsoft partners, helping them build secure, compliant, and scalable solutions, with a primary focus on Security solutions and knowledge of Microsoft’s Modern Work portfolio.
  • Drive partner readiness, technical enablement, and workload activation aligned to Microsoft’s Zero Trust principles and compliance standards.
  • Collaborate with peers and partners in the ASIA, America, and EMEA regions.
  • Proactively review partner feedback to identify and understand satisfaction and dissatisfaction drivers, determine root causes, and establish recovery actions to improve experience.
  • Guide Partners with transitions/migration to Microsoft 365 cloud services, including tenant setup and service configuration.
  • Assist partners in designing and developing cloud-specific security policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Provide one-to-one consultations to partners, offering solutions for their customer environments within primary or minor solution areas (e.g., architectural guidance, RFP assistance, deployment guidance), and identify/recommend complimentary solution areas.
  • Use business, technology, and industry strategies to define customer/partner requirements and constraints.
  • Assess partner needs and recommend appropriate technical solutions or best practices through methods such as feature comparison, architecture design, and proofs of concept, providing supporting materials to help partners achieve business goals.
  • Help Partners strengthen their Security Infrastructure by recommending and enabling them on the best Microsoft Security products.
  • Be a Trusted Advisor by guiding partners to adopt Microsoft best practices to help them sell/deploy Microsoft Security Solutions.
  • Proactively and continuously learn new technology in the respective solution area and build knowledge in additional solution areas.
  • Collaborate with other Partner Technical Consultants (PTCs) by sharing experiences, best practices, and product news.
  • Attain proper accreditation needed to deliver different intellectual property and participate in relevant technical communities.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge in intellectual property (IP), assist in IP content creation, and communicate areas needing refreshing or gaps in IP.
  • Lead the creation of IP so partners can deliver in a similar manner and use the same resources.
  • Record and update labor in the incident-management tool, documenting case status logs, activities on valid solutions, and timely engagement/follow-up with partners.
  • Record and update technical and professional skills in a tracking tool.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 2+ years of technical pre-sales, technical support, or technical consulting experience OR 3+ years of technical pre-sales, technical support, or technical consulting experience.
  • 1+ year(s) experience with relevant technologies (e.g., cloud, infrastructure, Microsoft platform).
  • Expertise in Hybrid Identity, MFA, Conditional Access, Privileged Identity Management, Identity Protection, Identity Governance.
  • Experience with Device Management, Application Management, Device Protection.
  • Proficiency in Defender for Endpoint, Defender for Office 365, Defender for Cloud Apps.
  • Knowledge of Advanced eDiscovery, Information Governance, Compliance Score, Microsoft 365 compliance center, Customer Lockbox, Customer Key, Compliance Manager, Insider Risk Management, Microsoft Information Protection, data loss prevention (DLP), Message encryption, Retention Labels and Policies.
  • Ability to deploy and operationalize Microsoft Security Copilot.
  • Experience using AI-generated insights for threat detection and incident response practice.
  • Familiarity with prompt engineering and natural language interfaces in SOC environments.
  • Understanding of AI governance, model validation, and responsible AI practices.
  • Technical experience with architecture design, configuration, and implementation of infrastructure in Microsoft Teams, Meetings, Phone System, Operator Connect and Direct Routing, Integration with other Applications.
  • Experience with Viva Connections, Viva Engage, Viva Insights, Viva Topics, Viva Learning.
  • Design and administration skills for Exchange Online, Experience with Exchange Migrations, IMAP, On-Premises to Online and public folder migration, Skills with Exchange Transport and Client Access, good understanding of Autodiscover service and Exchange ActiveSync (EAS).
  • Experience with supporting, planning, designing and implementation of Microsoft Sharepoint Online, Hybrid Scenarios, OneDrive for Business implementation, Migration of files to Microsoft 365.
  • Solid understanding of Windows 365 including its provisioning, management, and integration with Microsoft Endpoint Manager.
  • Deep expertise in Microsoft 365 Copilot including the ability to design, deploy, and optimize AI-powered productivity experiences across Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Understanding of prompt engineering, semantic search, and AI-driven automation.
  • Knowledge of other Microsoft Cloud Solutions (Azure, Dynamics, Power Apps, Power Automate, Project Online) is a plus.
  • Demonstrate expertise in planning, building, and deploying solutions across Microsoft’s AI portfolio.
  • ISV and Marketplace Skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Partner Centre is an added advantage.
