Overview

Microsoft AI is seeking a talented web engineer for the role of Member of Technical Staff - Growth Web Engineer. The ideal candidate will bring positive energy, empathy, and high effectiveness to build world-class consumer experiences in a fast-paced environment. Join the Growth engineering team to drive user acquisition, engagement, retention, and feature development while collaborating with Product Management, Design, Data Scientists, and AI Research teams.

The team is part of Microsoft AI (MAI), which focuses on advancing Copilot, Bing, Edge, and generative AI research. As part of Microsoft, you will contribute to a mission to empower every person and organization on the planet, working in an inclusive culture based on respect, integrity, and accountability.

This U.S. Mountain View, CA position requires candidates to be local to the San Francisco area and in office at least three days a week, with additional expectations starting January 26, 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Build outstanding consumer-grade web applications with secure, maintainable code.
  • Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and marketing to drive growth.
  • Optimize onboarding flows, improve product features, and deliver scalable infrastructure.
  • Utilize data-driven methods to analyze user behavior and optimize engagement.
  • Work iteratively in a fast-paced, design-driven product development cycle.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to embody Microsoft's Culture and Values.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field with 4+ years of technical engineering experience in web applications using JavaScript, TypeScript, React, CSS, Node.js, and related technologies. Experience in growth engineering or growth-oriented roles with proven accomplishments in user acquisition, engagement, and retention is strongly preferred.

Preferred Qualifications: Contributions to open-source projects, experience building web applications from scratch, and skills in internationalization, localization, and scaling products globally. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a passion for continual learning are essential.
