Overview
Microsoft Azure is building the fastest and most secure network in public clouds. As a Hardware Engineer II in the Accelnet hardware team, you will architect, design, validate, and deploy networking acceleration for Azure Boost – the largest FPGA SmartNIC deployment in the world. This role spans from hardware to systems to applications, turning ideas into production systems rapidly while redefining hardware design methodology.
This opportunity allows hardware developers to see designs reach production within weeks and software developers to leverage customized hardware for enhanced performance.
Responsibilities
- Design, propose, analyze, and evaluate hardware architectures.
- Develop RTL modules in SystemVerilog meeting area and performance constraints.
- Simulate, test, debug, and verify designs using custom testers or cloud environments.
- Script and develop software in support of hardware design.
- Participate in Agile methodologies with code reviews and sprint planning.
- Support DevOps with occasional on-call responsibilities for production issues.
Qualifications
Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field with 2+ years technical experience OR Master’s degree or equivalent experience. 2+ years in digital logic design, development, or verification.
Other Qualifications
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, or government security screening requirements including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years experience for Bachelor's degree holders, or 3+ years for Master’s degree holders.
- Experience with digital logic design using Verilog, SystemVerilog, or VHDL.
- FPGA programming experience including timing closure and resource management.
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals including RDMA, SR-IOV, TCP, UDP, DTLS, and IP.
- Experience in hardware verification methodologies.
Compensation and Duration
The base pay range in the U.S. is approximately USD 100,600 - 199,000 per year (varies by location). This position is open for a minimum of 5 days with ongoing applications until filled.
