Overview of the Finance Manager Role at Microsoft

Microsoft Industry Solution Delivery (IS) is a global team comprising over 6000 Consultants, Architects, and sales professionals operating in more than 150 countries. This team leverages deep expertise and technology skills to craft innovative solutions for industry-specific customer scenarios. The IS finance team, a part of Microsoft Commercial and Partner Solutions finance, is a dynamic group of finance professionals dedicated to driving business transformation. We act as a trusted partner to the IS leadership team, fostering diverse perspectives, an inclusive environment, and valuing work-life flexibility.

As a Finance Manager, your work directly influences Microsoft's external financial reporting by managing the Industry Solution Delivery (ISD) Profit & Loss (P&L), which directly impacts the company's financial segments. In this pivotal role, you will help optimize resource allocation and maximize the Return on Investment (ROI) of Microsoft's strategic assets. You will essentially serve as the de facto Chief Financial Officer for the Americas region of the ISD business, collaborating closely with the Americas IS Corporate Vice President and her team to achieve all financial outcomes for the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver on Profit & Loss (P&L) targets for both top-line revenue and bottom-line profitability.
  • Utilize robust finance processes for outlook, forecasting, and budgeting to guide business decisions, identify risks and opportunities, and ensure business accountability for financial results.
  • Provide strategic insights, advisory services, and decision support to IS business partners, assisting leaders in navigating daily commercial and financial challenges.
  • Act as a steward of Microsoft's shareholder value, continuously seeking to optimize financial investments within IS for enhanced Return on Investment (ROI).
  • Engage in strategic collaboration with a wide array of business and finance stakeholders to foster synergy and improve efficiency in both business and finance processes.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science, or a related field.
  • OR a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science, or a related field AND 2+ years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership, finance, or a related field, OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science, or a related field AND 3+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance work experience.
  • OR a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science, or a related field AND 5+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance work experience, OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of Business Partnering and/or Controllership experience.
  • 2+ years of work experience in the technology or software industry.
  • 2+ years of work experience in a matrix-based organization.
  • Professional Services and Consulting business experience.
  • Experience in multinational environments with multi-product and/or multi-segment finance roles.
