The Microsoft Data Center Technician role involves staging, setting up, and performing hardware deployments. Microsoft CO+I Environment
At Microsoft Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I), you will support key online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and Azure from a global portfolio of over 200 data centers across 32 countries. The role emphasizes training, career rotation, and professional certification opportunities while fostering a culture of inclusion and growth.
Responsibilities
- Stage, install, troubleshoot, and decommission IT datacenter equipment.
- Follow standard processes for diagnostics, hardware deployments, and refreshes.
- Provide guidance to less experienced technicians and escalate issues as needed.
- Participate in safety briefings, EHS training, and adhere to PPE protocols.
- Occasionally travel (up to 25%) to support metro data centers.
Physical & Operational Requirements
This role requires climbing ladders, frequent stair use, standing for extended periods, and occasional lifting/pushing up to 50-75 lbs. It is essential to maintain the ability to safely execute technical tasks in a dynamic data center environment.
Qualifications
Basic technical knowledge with at least 1 year of IT equipment support experience is required; 3+ years is preferred along with applicable certifications such as CompTIA A+, Server+, or Network+.
