Overview of the Role

Join Microsoft's Customer Experience and Success (CE&S) organization as a Data Analyst, where you will contribute to empowering customers and accelerating AI transformation globally. The CE&S team focuses on delivering differentiated customer experiences through Microsoft’s products and services, driving cross-company alignment and exceeding customer expectations. This role is within the CE&S Business Intelligence (BI) Team, which is crucial for data-driven decision-making and self-serve analytics to optimize customer experience and support operations.

The CE&S BI Team builds and manages data platforms, oversees data governance, develops Machine Learning models, and provides essential analytics resources. As a Data Analyst, you will be a goal-driven individual with extensive experience in delivering insights to optimize customer experience and support. You will lead collaborations with high-impact data analysts and strategic customers to solve complex problems, communicate trends to stakeholders, and work cross-functionally with engineering, product, and program management teams to deploy business solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with stakeholders to understand business needs, prioritize them, and translate into technical requirements for the data and analytics engineering team.
  • Determine and develop analytic models to understand complex business issues and provide data-driven insights.
  • Perform in-depth analysis on business operations using a variety of analytical tools, including SQL, Python, Azure Databricks, Synapse, Power BI, and Fabric.
  • Execute analyses, interpret results with actionable recommendations, and collaborate on existing frameworks.
  • Design, execute, and streamline intake processes, including user stories, acceptance criteria, bug & data matrices, and subsequent effort estimations and task sequencing.
  • Ensure high standards of data quality, accuracy, and timeliness in all outputs and deliverables.
  • Adhere to consistent frameworks and standards, including business rule logic and taxonomy.
  • Define and measure the success and impact of analytics and reporting features quantitatively.
  • Practice agile methodologies, focusing on an efficient, iterative design process.
  • Deliver clear, concise, and comprehensive communication tailored to stakeholder needs.
  • Mentor peers on best practices, fostering a culture of continuous development.
  • Participate in broader evangelization and communication within relevant Microsoft communities.
  • Drive inclusion in all aspects of work, embodying Microsoft's culture and values.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 2+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis OR
  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 4+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience in Power BI modeling & DAX.
Additional Or Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 6+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis OR
  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 8+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis OR equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge using SQL (window functions, CTEs, performance tuning) and Python/PySpark for data transformations.
  • Experience with Azure data stack: Fabric (Lakehouse/Warehouse, Pipelines, Semantic Models), Synapse, Databricks, Data Factory.
  • Data modeling mastery (dimensional/star schema, SCD, conformed dimensions, KPI standardization).
  • Proven ability to convert ambiguous business needs into implementable technical designs; ship iteratively in agile environments; write high-quality documentation and communicate clearly to diverse audiences.
