Role Overview
As a Critical Environment Ops Technician at Microsoft, you will maintain the critical infrastructure that keeps datacenters running. You will coordinate with suppliers, understand equipment, perform maintenance, and respond to onsite incidents.
Team and Impact
This role is part of Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team responsible for supporting core services such as Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and Azure. You will contribute to ensuring safety, quality, and reliability while operating in a global infrastructure environment.
Responsibilities
- Ensure safety and compliance with regulations and internal policies.
- Perform maintenance tasks including planned, predictive, and corrective repairs.
- Assist in troubleshooting equipment and system anomalies.
- Coordinate with third-party vendors to start and complete work safely.
- Document and report maintenance activities and incident responses.
Physical & Working Conditions
Expect occasional climbing, prolonged standing, and lifting. Work in conditions with elevated noise, heat, and light, typical of data center environments.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED is required, with preferred technical certifications or associate degrees. Ability to work 12-hour shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays is essential. Up to 25% travel may be required.
