Overview
The Cloud Network Engineer at Microsoft is a key role on the High Performance Computing and Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure team. This role focuses on designing, deploying, and operating network infrastructure that powers large-scale AI and HPC systems.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Deploy high-throughput, low-latency physical network topologies using InfiniBand and Ethernet.
- Act as the Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) for network system health and incident resolution.
- Collaborate with hardware, data center operations, and software-defined networking teams.
- Document network designs, cabling standards, and deployment procedures.
- Innovate by evaluating emerging optical and high-speed interconnect solutions.
Qualifications
Qualifications include at least 2 years of experience in network design, automation or a related technical degree. Experience in data center, backbone networks, and distributed computing platforms (AI clusters, HPC systems, hyperscale data centers) is essential.
Additional Information
Candidates must pass Microsoft security screenings, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check. Preferred candidates will have experience with advanced network protocols (BGP, MPLS, VxLAN) and observability tools, and may hold certifications such as CCNP or CCIE.
