Within Azure Data, the Azure Data Analytics team builds the core analytics experiences in Microsoft Fabric. We own the Data Warehouse, Data Engineering, Data Science, AI, and Power BI workloads, enabling customers to ingest, transform, analyze, and derive insights from structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data at enterprise scale. Our team is at the center of Microsoft's strategy to deliver a seamless, end-to-end analytics experience in Fabric.
The Analytics exec office manages all the behind-the-scenes Budget, Headcount and Operating procedures and processes to ensure that the Azure Data Analytics priorities can be achieved. Our team makes tangible impact on this growing organization, getting things done efficiently and at-scale. About the Business Manager Role
As a Business Manager, you will report to the lead Business Manager, Azure Data Analytics, and oversee business operations—including budget, headcount, and ROB—while managing gross margin analysis, financial planning, and historical trends. You’ll proactively identify process improvements based on business trends and their impact on financial outlooks.
Success in this role will require deep partnership building and collaboration with the Azure Data Central Business Operations team, Product and Engineering teams, and Microsoft Finance stakeholders; while maintaining effective communication and operational capabilities ensuring all relevant parties are up to date and informed with the relevant data on their portfolios. You’ll support the analytics business at all levels, uphold high professional standards, and manage confidential information. Responsibilities
Business Operations: Budget & Headcount Specialization
- Operate and maintain the Analytics External Resources budget including financial planning in partnership with the Azure Data central team, Analytics PO processing, monthly accruals, invoicing and reporting.
- Operate and maintain the Analytics Discretionary budget including planning, and execution, pre-approvals for Computer/Peripherals, Training & Entertainment, and process ownership of the cascaded Morale/Training budgets.
- Operate and maintain the Analytics strategic resource efficiency and conversion operations projects including status & tracking (e.g., Project Zero (an internal efficiency project) and Cost of Goods Capacity savings.
- Co-lead the Analytics headcount and people dollars strategy in collaboration with the lead Business Manager, and support the headcount operations, including headcount and position control number requests, position processing, and position reporting.
Business Operations: Communication excellence
- Guidance owner/SME for all owned budget categories for Analytics
- Contribute reporting to business read outs for all owned Analytics budget categories (e.g., commentary and additional slides into the monthly business reviews)
- Communication excellence (clarity, accuracy & audience) throughout all initiatives and programs (Writing + Verbal)
Org & People Leadership
- Trusted advisor to lead Business Manager, Azure Data analytics, and Analytics exec leadership team for all owned budget categories and projects
- Effective collaboration with cross-division partners (e.g., engineering; product managers; other business managers across Azure Data and Central team; Finance; Project Owners)

- Bachelor's Degree in relevant field (e.g., Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Computer Science) AND 3+ years experience in financial management, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources, or business-related roles OR equivalent experience.
Job Requirements: Other & Additional
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

- 3+ years experience in financial management, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources, or business-related roles OR Bachelor's Degree in relevant field (e.g., Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Computer Science) AND 5+ years experience in financial management, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources, or business-related roles OR equivalent experience.
