Software Engineer - AI Training & Evaluation
We are seeking experienced Software Engineers to contribute to training and evaluating next-generation AI systems by engaging in real-world software engineering tasks. This role is ideal for developers who excel at understanding diverse codebases, articulating engineering choices, and resolving practical challenges in backend, full-stack, systems, or infrastructure domains. Prior AI expertise is not necessary; the emphasis is on strong software engineering judgment, clear technical communication, and the ability to assess code, architecture, trade-offs, and implementation quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake complex software engineering challenges spanning backend, full-stack, infrastructure, and systems projects.
- Review, debug, enhance, and explain code across various technical landscapes.
- Design or assess practical solutions involving APIs, databases, services, integrations, testing, and deployment pipelines.
- Identify and analyze trade-offs related to scalability, maintainability, performance, reliability, security, and developer experience.
- Clearly articulate technical reasoning in written form, detailing solution efficacy and alternative considerations.
- Engage with customer teams on technical reviews, implementation strategies, and problem-solving initiatives.
- Rapidly adapt to new codebases, frameworks, and evolving technical requirements.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years of comprehensive software engineering experience.
- Proficiency in at least one backend or full-stack environment, including but not limited to Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, Java, C#, .NET, C++, Go, Ruby, PHP, or similar technologies.
- Proven experience in building, maintaining, or reviewing production-level applications, APIs, services, databases, or integrations.
- Solid grasp of software engineering fundamentals, encompassing debugging, testing, code quality, architectural principles, and technical trade-offs.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex engineering decisions with clarity and objectivity.
- Comfort and capability in reading and analyzing unfamiliar code or technical specifications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, containerization, monitoring tools, or production operations.
- Experience with frontend frameworks like React, Next.js, Angular, Vue, or React Native.
- Active contributions to open-source projects, publicly available GitHub repositories, technical writing experience, or a strong portfolio of past engineering work.
- Experience in mentoring junior engineers, conducting code reviews, or making significant architectural decisions.
