The Role: Forward Deployed Member of Technical Staff
As a Forward Deployed Member of Technical Staff at micro1, you will operate at the intersection of customer delivery, applied research, and production engineering. This role entails end-to-end ownership of AI data and training pipelines, transforming real-world signals into scalable, production systems that directly enhance model performance.
What You ’ll Do
- Partner directly with researchers at frontier AI labs to identify model gaps, define success metrics, and shape training strategy.
- Work embedded with customers to identify gaps, define success, and drive execution.
- Design task formats, evaluations, and training setups aligned to real-world objectives.
- Rapidly ship high-quality outputs using Off-The-Shelf (OTS) pipelines; own new pipelines from kickoff to production.
- Build and maintain production-grade code, integrations, and automated data/training workflows.
- Act as the technical owner for pipeline architecture, bridging researchers, customers, and internal platform teams.
What We ’re Looking For
- Strong engineering background with ownership of complex systems from design to production.
- Experience owning end-to-end AI or data pipelines in production environments.
- Comfort operating in ambiguity, moving fast, and shipping repeatedly.
- Clear communicator who can translate customer feedback into technical execution.
- Proven ability to lead technical delivery and mentor others.

- Experience with model training workflows or applied ML systems.
- Background in applied research or customer-embedded engineering roles.
