Michael Baker International is seeking a talented Bridge Technical Manager to join our esteemed Bridge Practice in Chicago, IL. This hybrid role offers a unique opportunity to lead critical bridge design and preservation projects, contributing to high-visibility initiatives under the guidance of the Structural Department Manager.

About the Role

As a Bridge Technical Manager, you will be instrumental in coordinating structural tasks, managing project schedules, and ensuring client satisfaction. You will serve as a key point of contact for clients, addressing project issues, budgets, and timelines. This role involves performing quality checks, overseeing project safety, and providing regular status reports.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead structural tasks, coordinating project schedules and deliverables.
• Communicate effectively with clients on project status, budgets, and potential issues.
• Assist in proposal development and client outreach.
• Conduct thorough quality checks on all technical work.
• Ensure adherence to quality standards and project deadlines.
• Maintain strong client relationships and satisfaction.
• Oversee project safety, including the Health and Safety Plan.
• Provide regular status reports to the Structural Department Manager.
• Potentially teach educational courses related to bridge engineering.

Professional Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering.
• Illinois Professional Engineer (PE) license and Structural Engineer (S.E.) license.
• 10+ years of related experience.
• Proven experience with Illinois bridge design and maintenance policies.
• Expertise in complex bridge analysis and design using finite element software.
• Active involvement in industry and professional organizations.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Excellent English language proficiency.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and computer-aided bridge design/analysis tools (finite element and bridge load rating).
