How You'll Make An Impact
As a Secondary Science Curriculum Developer, you will collaborate with subject-matter experts, our production team, and an instructional coach to produce immersive, engaging, and academically rigorous learning materials. These materials, including videos, assessments, and written activities, form the core of our curriculum. We seek experts who are highly motivated, collaborative, and student-driven, thriving in a dynamic environment.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities)
- Design and develop science educational content (video scripts, assessments, and written materials) for middle and high school students.
- Ensure content is pedagogically sound, engaging, age-appropriate, and accessible for students.
- Write clear and measurable lesson objectives, aligning teaching materials to meet objectives.
- Utilize technology like Google Slides, Sheets, Docs, and screencasting software.
- Differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse learning styles and needs.
- Continuously evaluate and refine content based on feedback and educational outcomes.
- Collaborate on special projects and assignments.

What Makes You a Good Fit (Requirements)
- A minimum of 2 years of full-time science teaching experience at the 9-12th grade level.
- A Bachelor's degree (or higher) in a Science-related field or Education.
- Knowledge of the structure of an effective lesson.
- Familiarity with writing lesson objectives and aligning material.
- Ability to differentiate instruction for accessibility, engagement, and age-appropriateness.
- Strong understanding of what makes a lesson engaging.
- Experience using technology to support instruction, including Google Slides, Sheets, and Docs.
- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Growth mindset and motivation from constructive feedback.
- Proven ability to work independently, manage schedules, and meet deadlines.
- High motivation, proactive attitude, and a tendency to seek continuous improvement.
- High standards of integrity and transparency.
- Access to a computer/laptop (with camera) and reliable high-speed internet connection.

- Active teaching certification and/or professional development in curriculum design and pedagogy.
- Hands-on experience designing and writing curriculum, including scripts for asynchronous video lessons.
- Experience analyzing and transforming data into actionable goals that positively impacted students.
- Experience with screencasting software or online instruction.
- Your own unique talents and transferable skills.
Compensation & Benefits
The expected starting pay range for this full-time, non-exempt role is $28.47–$37.73 per hour, equating to approximately $59,218–$78,478 annually. Miaplaza offers competitive compensation based on performance and impact, evaluated twice yearly. Full-time employees receive health, dental, and vision insurance (including specialty care like fertility benefits and mental health services), FSA, HSA, and a 401(k) retirement plan with employer match. Our flexible PTO policy combines vacation and sick leave, offering approximately 139 hours per year (17 eight-hour days). Parental leave and other perks are also available. Employees also receive free site memberships and discounted MOHS tuition for children in their household, plus two additional memberships for other children.

Schedule
Curriculum Developers are expected to have 30-40 hours of availability each week year-round, with ample work available. Anything over 30 hours per week is considered full-time and eligible for all benefits. Your schedule is flexible; as long as deadlines are met and you attend weekly meetings (generally during US business hours), Miaplaza supports the hours that work best for you.
