About the Role
MHP – A Porsche Company is seeking a Backup Commvault Engineer - Senior Consultant/Manager to shape a better tomorrow by administering, configuring, and optimizing the Commvault platform. This role involves designing and implementing scalable backup and recovery solutions across on‑prem, hybrid, and cloud environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and optimize Commvault components including CommServe, Media Agents, Index Servers, and Command Center.
- Design scalable backup and recovery solutions for various environments.
- Perform backup & restore for Windows, Linux, VMware, Hyper‑V, SQL Server, Oracle, and other applications.
- Troubleshoot complex issues using advanced logs and diagnostic tools.
- Manage deduplication, storage policies, indexing, auxiliary copy workflows, and Cloud Library integrations.
- Maintain and upgrade components with minimal downtime and compliance.
- Configure and support SAN/NAS, cloud object storage, and tape infrastructures.
- Automate tasks using PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
- Implement security best practices including encryption, RBAC, multi‑factor access, and immutable storage.
- Monitor system performance, forecast capacity, and develop custom reports.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, and security teams to ensure alignment with enterprise architecture.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years hands-on experience with Commvault Complete Backup & Recovery.
- Expertise in storage policies, subclients, schedules, and performance tuning.
- Experience with deduplication database management and VMware VADP backups.
- Strong knowledge of cloud storage (Azure, AWS, GCP) and enterprise storage systems.
- Proficiency in Windows Server, Linux (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu), and networking concepts.
- Skilled in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, and/or Python.
- Experience with HA & DR technologies including CommServe LiveSync and Failover scenarios.
- Strong communication skills for working with cross-functional teams.
Additional Information
Start date: by arrangement (always on the 1st and 15th of the month). Working hours: Full-time (40h) with 27 vacation days. Employment contract: Unlimited. Line of work: Consulting. Language skills: Fluency in English, German is a plus. Flexibility & willingness to travel. A valid work permit is required.
