GIS Analyst – ArcGIS Indoors Specialty

Overview

The GIS Analyst – ArcGIS Indoors Specialty role at MGT is a remote position based in the U.S. Focused on creating, organizing, and visualizing facility data for educational institutions, public agencies, and other organizations, the candidate will work on preparing CAD, BIM, and floor plan data for Indoors deployment.

Responsibilities

Data Development & Management: Acquire, process, and prepare spatial, CAD, and LiDAR data for integration into ArcGIS Indoors models. Geo-reference and manually digitize site maps and floor plans when data is unavailable. Digitize and attribute floor plans, assets, and points from various data sources. Maintain high-quality geodatabases following Esri standards and MGT GIS Playbook specifications.

Field Data Collection & Scanning: Conduct onsite data collection including LiDAR scanning, asset inventories, and field inspections. Utilize Esri Field Maps, Survey123, and mobile applications for data capture and updates. Travel for fieldwork, site validation, or project coordination.

GIS Analysis & Visualization: Perform spatial and facility-based analyses. Create detailed 2D/3D maps, dashboards, and interactive visualizations using ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and Experience Builder. Develop symbology, labeling, and map configurations for floor-aware environments.

Application Configuration & Deployment: Configure, publish, and integrate ArcGIS Indoors applications. Collaborate with project managers and clients to test and deploy deliverables.

Quality Assurance & Documentation: Ensure accuracy and completeness through QA/QC procedures. Document workflows, metadata, and project deliverables per MGT’s GIS Playbook guidelines. Participate in peer reviews for consistency.

Collaboration & Support: Work with project managers, engineers, and CAD/LiDAR specialists to achieve project goals. Provide technical support and troubleshooting for Indoors models and applications. Engage in client meetings, training sessions, and technical demos.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Research emerging Esri technologies and recommend new tools or workflows to improve production efficiency and data quality. Share best practices across the GIS team.

Requirements

Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Urban Planning, Architecture or related field or equivalent experience. Minimum two years of professional GIS experience, preferably in facility mapping and Esri Indoors solutions.

Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Esri ArcGIS Pro, Online, Enterprise and working knowledge of ArcGIS Indoors tools. Experience with georeferencing, digitization, and mobile GIS applications. Familiarity with spatial databases, metadata management and some scripting using Python or Model Builder.

Certifications & Additional Requirements: Possess or be willing to obtain Esri Technical Certification at Foundations or Associate level within three months. Must be detail oriented, a strong communicator, and comfortable with domestic travel for fieldwork.
