Job Description

Veterinary Technician Triage

Grow, Learn, and Make a Difference

Are you a Veterinary Technician who thrives in a fast-paced, high-impact environment? Do you have the skill and confidence to be the first line of support for pets in crisis? At Metropolitan Veterinary Associates (MVA), our Veterinary Triage Technicians are a vital part of our Emergency Department—providing critical assessments, prioritizing care, and setting the tone for each patient's journey.

Our Mission

Our goal is simple but profound: to improve the lives of pets, their families, and our community by providing compassionate, high-quality specialty and emergency care. If you share our passion for animal well-being and collaborative teamwork, we’d love you to explore this opportunity.

Who We Are

We are a leading specialty and emergency hospital, housed in a state-of-the-art 25,000-square-foot facility equipped to handle a wide range of complex cases. With 13 specialty departments, our team includes top experts in fields such as internal medicine, surgery, cardiology, and more, ensuring comprehensive care for our patients. Our culture is built on continuous learning, mentorship, and genuine support, which means you’ll have ample opportunities to expand your skills alongside leaders in the industry.

What You’ll Do

As a Veterinary Triage Technician, you will be the initial point of contact for incoming emergency patients. This role is pivotal in ensuring timely, accurate, and compassionate care. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing hands-on medical care to emergency patients the moment they arrive
  • Assessing urgency and prioritizing patient care based on condition severity
  • Supporting the ER team with treatments, diagnostics, and continuous patient monitoring
  • Assisting in emergency procedures, exams, and resuscitations
  • Performing critical technical tasks such as venipuncture, running lab work, placing catheters, administering medications, and capturing patient vitals
  • Communicating clearly and compassionately with both pet owners and internal teams. You’ll be the voice of calm and reason when the unexpected happens—and the foundation of every pet’s emergency care.

We don’t just get through the workday—we embrace the opportunities to provide life-changing care. You’ll be surrounded by professionals who share your commitment to excellence and genuine compassion for animals.

Anticipated Schedule

This is a full-time position with the following available schedule: Sunday-Wednesday: 4:00 PM - 2:00 AM with potential option for 2:00 PM - 12:00 AM shift. Please note that some holidays are required.

Compensation

Starting at $20.00/hour + 15% shift differential

  • Supportive culture with social events & team-building activities
  • Competitive paid time off & holiday pay
  • Paid volunteer time off
  • Education Assistance Program & tuition reimbursement
  • Career growth & training opportunities to help you advance your skills and knowledge supported by our dedicated Education and Development team.

  • Mental health-focused services to ensure you thrive both personally and professionally
  • Pet adoption reimbursement
  • 401(k) plan with a strong employer match
  • Significant employee pet care discount
  • Annual uniform allowance so you’re always prepared for the next case
  • A workplace where you’ll feel valued, heard, and excited to come to work each day
