Job Overview
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is North America's largest transportation network serving 15.3 million people across New York City, Long Island, southeastern New York State, and Connecticut. The Auditor I role involves performing assurance, operational, technology, and contracts audits under supervision while developing audit recommendations according to MTA practices and IIA standards.
Position Objective
Auditor I professionals perform assigned audit segments, conduct basic research, prepare work papers, and document findings in accordance with the International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF) and Committee of Sponsoring Organizations (COSO) model.
Responsibilities
- Perform audit tasks under supervision.
- Conduct basic research and interact with various MTA departments.
- Prepare work papers summarizing research and evidence.
- Document findings and upload documentation in the Governance Risk and Compliance (GRC) system.
- Develop professional audit skills and awareness of COSO model.
- Support special projects and additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Auditing, Computer Science, or related field. Approximately one year of auditing experience or specialized academic training is desirable. Key skills include written and oral communication, analytical judgment, effective interaction with staff, and proficiency in PC applications like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Other Information
- Teleworking available one day per week.
- May require work outside normal hours.
- Travel to additional MTA locations may be required.
- Compliance with ethics and defensive driving training as needed.
