Overview
The Residuals Transport Operator plays a crucial role in the safe and efficient transport of various materials, including grit, sludge, bio-solids, wastewater, and heavy materials. This position involves operating a diverse range of heavy equipment and vehicles, performing routine maintenance, and adhering to strict safety regulations.
Essential Functions
- Operates a variety of equipment and vehicles such as a tractor, grit truck, tank truck, truck-mounted hydraulic cranes, 18-wheel semi tractor and trailer, etc.
- Loads, delivers, and unloads all materials, including grit, sludge, bio-solids, wastewater, and heavy materials.
- Operates, services, and performs minor maintenance on equipment including truck-attached equipment, portable pumps, vacuum pumps, and compressors.
Additional Responsibilities
- Performs related work as required or as delegated.
Qualifications
Training and Experience:
- Graduation from high school or equivalent.
- Three years of experience in the maintenance and operation of automotive equipment, including semi-tractors and trailers.
Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Considerable knowledge of the operation, servicing, and minor maintenance of heavy automotive equipment, semi-tractors and trailers, and field equipment.
- Working knowledge of traffic laws, ordinances, and regulations involved in vehicle and equipment operation.
- Skill in the operation of heavy automotive equipment and semi-tractors and trailers.
- Ability to perform manual labor under adverse weather conditions.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Special Requirements:
- Must possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License issued by the state in which the employee resides.
- This position is designated as safety-sensitive and requires passing a D.O.T. Drug Test.
- Employees are subject to Federal (D.O.T.) Drug and Alcohol Testing Regulations.
- Employees of MSD must have a 'meets expectations' performance record.
