About the Role

The Procurement Consultant at MetLife is a key member of the US Procurement Partnering team within the Global Procurement organization. This role supports Marketing, Human Resources, Operations, and US Business (USB) through industry-standard category management and sourcing functions.

The Opportunity

You will work on a combined category management and sourcing function. Your responsibilities include supporting indirect categories with a focus on Business-Function Technology (Software/SaaS), Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), Marketing (including Print & Promotional), and Human Resources (including Contingent Labor). The goal is to enhance procurement practices, manage costs, renew supplier contracts, and drive operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Procurement: Develop and implement category management strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Spend & Category Management: Oversee a managed spend of over $500 million and identify cost savings.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with key internal stakeholders to meet procurement needs.
  • Market Analysis: Utilize market intelligence and benchmarking tools to inform negotiations and sourcing strategies.

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in indirect procurement with expertise in category management and sourcing.
  • Experience working in a global, large-scale procurement team.
  • Strong analytical skills; adept at using Excel and business intelligence tools.
  • Proficient communication and negotiation skills.
  • Familiarity with procurement software and tools, with experience in Zip, CLMs, and SAP Ariba a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in business, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  • Experience in leading high spend and complex cross-functional RFx events.

Compensation and Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is $76,500 to $102,000, with eligibility for annual short-term incentive compensation. MetLife offers comprehensive U.S. benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k) with employer matching, and additional wellness programs.
