About the Role
The Associate Manager - Accounting at MetLife is part of the Group Benefits Finance team and plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting. The role supports month‑end and quarter‑end close activities, prepares financial statements and journal entries, and maintains strong internal controls. It involves preparing payroll and commission‑related entries, managing allocations, and providing analysis for internal and external audits.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead month‑ and quarter‑end close activities.
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and schedules per GAAP.
- Maintain internal controls and SOX compliance.
- Deliver written analyses on financial results and variances.
- Collaborate with Finance and business teams to resolve issues.
- Handle investment‑in‑subsidiary and tax provision journal entries.
- Support audit requests and compliance inquiries.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Applicants should have a minimum of 2 years’ accounting experience in public or corporate environments, exhibit proficiency in Microsoft Office, and be able to multi‑task effectively. Strong attention to detail and independent judgment are key. Preferred qualifications include a CPA and experience in the health insurance industry with familiarity in NetSuite.
