Absence Management Claim Specialist at MetLife

The Global Technology & Operations group (GTO) is a diverse team of engineers, developers, business analysts, claims analysts and project managers with the freedom to create innovative and solutions to address core business challenges with MetLife. This role will provide exemplary customer service by managing total absence claims in a timely and accurate fashion.

Job Location

Virtual within a commutable distance of Oriskany / Central New York. New Hires must live within a commutable distance of Oriskany / Central NY.

Training

IN-PERSON TRAINING for up to 4 weeks, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle, review, and administer Family & Medical Leave Act / and or Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) claims and adhere to federal and state regulatory and/or company plan requirements.
  • Establish FMLA/ADA workflow procedures and evaluate against appropriate leave plans and make initial claim decisions.
  • Complete eligibility decisions during intake call, gather pertinent data when necessary, from employee or other supporting systems as well as perform leave-ups as required, including recertification of health condition, intermittent claim tracking, RTW confirmation, etc.
  • Update systems to accurately reflect leave status and ensure appropriate diary documentation exists.

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills

  • New hires should live a commutable distance from the site the role is posted in.
  • 1+ years of experience in insurance (health, life, auto, home, etc.).
  • Strong focus on customer satisfaction and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • This role has mandatory paid training starting on May 4th lasting for up to 4 weeks. Candidates must be available and present for all training days.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher education.
  • FMLA/ADA claims knowledge of process and procedures.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking in activities requiring analysis, investigation, and/or planning.
