About the Role
Meta is seeking talented engineers to join our teams in building cutting-edge products that connect billions of people around the world. As a Software Engineer, Machine Learning at Meta, you will work on complex technical problems, build new features, and improve existing products across mobile and web platforms.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product, design, operations, infrastructure) to build innovative application experiences.
- Implement custom user interfaces using modern programming techniques.
- Develop reusable software components for backend integration.
- Analyze and optimize code for quality, efficiency, and performance.
- Lead technical efforts and provide guidance to peers.
- Architect efficient and scalable systems driving complex applications.
- Identify and resolve performance and scalability issues.
- Work with various coding languages and technologies.
- Establish ownership of components, features, or systems with end-to-end understanding.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field (completed prior to joining Meta) or relevant practical experience. • 2+ years of programming experience in a relevant language, or PhD with 9 months of experience. • Proven track record of setting technical direction, driving consensus, and successful cross-functional partnerships. • Experience building maintainable and testable code bases, including API design and unit testing.
Preferred Qualifications
• 2+ years of experience in machine learning, recommendation systems, pattern recognition, data mining, artificial intelligence, or related fields. • Experience developing machine learning models at scale and delivering business impact. • Exposure to architectural patterns for large scale software applications. • Proficiency in scripting languages such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Python, JavaScript or Hack. • Solid experience in translating insights into business recommendations. • Expertise in improving quality through code reviews, proper testing, and proactive changes. • Experience with C/C++ and Java, or scripting languages like Python, Perl, PHP, and/or shell scripts.

Compensation & Benefits
Compensation ranges from $58.65/hour to $181,000/year, plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
