Product Designer, Reality Labs Responsibilities:
- Leads and delivers design projects of large and/or ambiguous scope.
- Takes broad, conceptual ideas and turns them into something useful and valuable for our 2 billion+ users.
- Designs flows and experiences that simplify and distill down complex actions into usable interfaces.
- Designs new experiences or layouts that evolve and define visual systems.
- Contributes to strategic decisions around the future direction of FB products.
- Gives and solicits feedback from designers and a broader product team to continually raise our bar for quality, while also taking on mentorship.
- Leads partnership with product managers, engineers, researchers, and content strategists to oversee the user experience of a product from conception until launch.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 6+ years of experience designing complex software products, end to end, with a focus on user experience, interaction, and visual design that meet business objectives.
- Experience conducting complex research studies and drives business growth through design-led innovation.
- Experience leading end-to-end development efforts, drives progress with Cross Functional Partner (XFN) teams, develops design roadmaps, and makes high-impact decisions balancing user needs with business growth objectives.
- Expertise in advanced prototyping techniques, such as creating functional prototypes or using emerging technologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven track record of leading the design of complex products for virtual, augmented, mixed reality, and other emerging technologies.
- Demonstrated experience collaborating with and influencing cross-functional stakeholders such as User Research, Engineering, and Product Management.
- Advanced skills in prototyping 3D interactions or interfaces using Unity and other industry-leading tools.
- Expertise in designing and implementing novel user inputs such as hand or eye tracking.
- Experience driving the design of products for developers and/or creators, with a focus on scalability and platformization.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements).
- Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews).
- Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies.
