About the Role: Energy Manager - Commercial Energy Supply
Meta is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Energy Manager to join its Energy Team, focusing on commercial energy supply for its rapidly expanding data center infrastructure. In this critical role, you will manage a reliable, cost-effective, and sustainable energy supply across both regulated and organized energy markets in the United States. You will play a key role in developing and executing Meta's global energy strategy, emphasizing cost-competitive clean and renewable energy sources aligned with the company's strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Actively manage commercial relationships for data centers situated across various U.S. energy markets.
- Lead regulatory processes and influence rate-making and energy supply solutions offered by utilities, suppliers, and market operators.
- Cultivate and grow relationships with essential utility partners, market participants, regulators, policymakers, and other stakeholders.
- Collaborate with legal teams to develop commercial arrangements and secure reliable, cost-effective, sustainable energy for existing facilities.
- Assist the Site Selection Team in identifying new U.S. locations that meet necessary energy requirements for future data centers.
- Interface with diverse internal organizations, including data center on-site staff, sustainability, policy, communications, design, construction, legal, and finance teams.
- Support the ongoing development and execution of Meta’s energy supply strategy for its data centers.
- Monitor technical, market, and regulatory developments within the energy industry, communicating key trends, risks, and potential impacts to management.
- Lead and provide support for various energy projects as required.
- Expected domestic travel of approximately 25%.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a directly related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Bachelor's degree in a business, engineering, environmental, or energy-related discipline.
- 10+ years of experience navigating commercial energy issues related to customer loads and new site development.
- Demonstrated ability to represent business interests to leadership teams of suppliers, utilities, governments, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
- Working knowledge of transmission, distribution, and utility interconnection processes.
- Proven expertise in managing multiple projects and collaborating effectively with internal staff, utility providers, consultants, and external stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills, with experience conveying complex commercial, regulatory, market, and contractual details to all organizational levels.
- Proficiency in standard document and analytics platforms (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Google Docs).
