About the Role: Data Scientist, Product Analytics at Meta

As a Data Scientist, Product Analytics at Meta, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of both people-facing and business-facing products across Meta's entire family of applications, including Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp, and Oculus. Leveraging your technical skills, analytical mindset, and deep product intuition, you will delve into one of the world's richest data sets to define experiences for billions of people and hundreds of millions of businesses globally.

You will engage in extensive collaboration on a diverse array of product and business challenges, partnering with cross-functional teams spanning Product, Engineering, Research, Data Engineering, Marketing, Sales, and Finance. Your primary objective will be to identify and resolve critical product development challenges through data and rigorous analysis, ultimately influencing product strategy and investment decisions with impactful, data-driven insights.

Product Leadership

You will utilize data to guide product development, quantify new opportunities, anticipate challenges, and ensure Meta's products deliver significant value to users, businesses, and the company. Your expertise will help partner teams prioritize development, establish goals, and thoroughly understand their product's ecosystem.

Analytics Focus

Guiding teams with data and insights will be central to your role. You will concentrate on formulating hypotheses and employing a comprehensive toolkit of rigorous analytical approaches, various methodologies, frameworks, and technical strategies to test and validate them.

Communication and Influence

Beyond merely presenting data, you will craft compelling data-driven narratives. Your ability to convince and influence partners with clear insights and actionable recommendations will be crucial. You will build credibility through structured analysis and clarity, establishing yourself as a trusted strategic partner.

Data Scientist, Product Analytics Responsibilities:

  • Work with extensive and intricate data sets to tackle a wide spectrum of challenging problems using diverse analytical and statistical methodologies.
  • Apply technical expertise in quantitative analysis, experimentation, data mining, and data presentation to formulate product strategies serving billions of users and businesses.
  • Identify and measure the success of product initiatives by setting goals, forecasting, and continuously monitoring key product metrics to discern trends.
  • Define, comprehend, and test opportunities and levers to enhance product performance, driving roadmaps with your insights and recommendations.
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and various cross-functional teams to inform, influence, support, and execute product strategy and investment decisions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently holds, or is in the process of obtaining, a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a relevant technical field, or possesses equivalent practical experience. (Degree must be completed before joining Meta.)
  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, a relevant technical field, or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of professional experience in analytics and data querying languages (e.g., SQL), scripting languages (e.g., Python), and/or statistical/mathematical software (e.g., R).
  • 2+ years of experience solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches, understanding ecosystems, user behaviors & long-term product trends, and leading data-driven projects from inception to execution, including defining metrics, experiment design, and communicating actionable insights.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's or Ph.D. Degree in a quantitative field.
