About the Role: Data Scientist, Product Analytics at Meta

As a Data Scientist at Meta, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of people-facing and business-facing products across our entire family of applications, including Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp, and Oculus. Leveraging your technical skills, analytical mindset, and strong product intuition on one of the world's richest data sets, you will directly influence the experiences built for billions of people and hundreds of millions of businesses globally.

You will collaborate extensively on diverse product and business challenges with cross-functional partners from Product, Engineering, Research, Data Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Finance, and other teams. Your primary responsibility will be to use data and analysis to identify and resolve critical challenges in product development, influencing product strategy and investment decisions with impactful insights and a strong focus on execution. Product Leadership

You will utilize data to guide product development, quantify new opportunities, anticipate upcoming challenges, and ensure that the products Meta builds deliver significant value to people, businesses, and the company. Your insights will help partner teams prioritize development efforts, establish clear goals, and thoroughly understand their product's ecosystem.

Analytics

You will provide data-driven guidance to teams, focusing on developing hypotheses and employing a robust toolkit of rigorous analytical approaches, diverse methodologies, frameworks, and technical strategies to test them effectively.

Communication and Influence

Your role extends beyond simply presenting data; you will tell compelling data-driven stories. You will convince and influence your partners with clear insights and actionable recommendations, building credibility through structured thinking and clarity, thereby becoming a trusted strategic partner.

Data Scientist, Product Analytics Responsibilities:

  • Work with large and complex data sets to solve a wide array of challenging problems using different analytical and statistical approaches.
  • Apply technical expertise in quantitative analysis, experimentation, data mining, and data presentation to develop product strategies that serve billions of people and hundreds of millions of businesses.
  • Identify and measure the success of product efforts through goal setting, forecasting, and continuous monitoring of key product metrics to understand trends.
  • Define, understand, and test opportunities and levers to improve the product, driving roadmaps through your insights and recommendations.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and other cross-functional teams to inform, influence, support, and execute product strategy and investment decisions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, a relevant technical field, or equivalent.
  • 4+ years of work experience in analytics, data querying languages such as SQL, scripting languages such as Python, and/or statistical mathematical software such as R (minimum of 2 years with a Ph.D.).
  • 4+ years of experience solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches, understanding ecosystems, user behaviors & long-term product trends, and leading data-driven projects from definition to execution (including defining metrics, experiment design, communicating actionable insights).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's or Ph.D. Degree in a quantitative field.
