About the role

Data Center Economic Development Manager

Meta designs, builds, leases, and operates high-performance, efficient data centers. Locating, developing, and managing this data center infrastructure effectively is synonymous with ensuring high uptime, capacity availability, flexibility, and capital and operational cost efficiency. Meta is seeking an experienced, organized, and collaborative Economic Development Manager. We are seeking a Data Center Economic Development Manager who has extensive experience negotiating large, complex economic development deals and an extensive knowledge of the legal agreements that accompany them.

Data Center Economic Development Manager Responsibilities:

  • Economic development project lead for new data center site selection efforts as well as existing site expansions.
  • Complete diligence relating to economic development programs as well as state and local taxes.
  • Partner with site selection and legal teams to negotiate economic development agreements with various state and local governments and economic development agencies.
  • Interface with internal organizations including data center design, construction, legal, finance, accounting, and tax.
  • Work cross-functionally to understand the project parameters needed to support data center economic development discussions.
  • Lead various projects related to our data centers, as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a directly related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15+ years of experience in state and local taxes and economic incentives.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Finance, Economics, Public Policy, or related field).
  • Contract negotiation experience.
  • Financial analysis and project management experience.
  • Experience negotiating, communicating, and representing the company’s interests with economic development personnel, government officials, and service providers.
  • Experience coordinating internal staff and consultants.
  • Proven precise communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews).
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements).
  • Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies.
