About the Role
Meta is seeking an AI Research Scientist Audio-Visual Understanding to join Fundamental AI Research (FAIR). The role involves advancing the science of intelligence by developing joint audio-visual understanding systems and audiovisual language models that predict social intent and reasoning from human-centric inputs.
Responsibilities
- Develop audio-visual systems integrating visual and auditory signals.
- Build and evaluate audiovisual language models.
- Contribute to benchmarks and evaluation frameworks.
- Train and optimize neural network methodologies.
- Collaborate on research projects with a global team.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field, with a PhD in AI, computer science, data science or related field preferred. Experience as a researcher with a proven research background in machine learning, AI, or applied mathematics is required. Proficiency in Python or similar programming languages and practical expertise in data analysis are essential.
Preferred Qualifications
- Research and software engineering experience via internships or open source contributions.
- Expertise in audio-visual learning and multimodal fusion techniques.
- Knowledge in human action recognition and social signal processing.
- Experience with long-form video understanding and vision-language models.
- Familiarity with temporal modeling, video transformers, or recurrent architectures.

Compensation & Benefits
The position offers a base salary ranging from $154,000 to $217,000 per year, plus bonus, equity, and additional benefits. Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
