Job Description Summary

MES Life Safety is seeking a full-time Service Technician - Air Supplied Products. The role focuses on inspecting, maintaining, repairing, and testing Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) equipment primarily for firefighting personnel in Western North Carolina.

Roles And Responsibilities

  • Equipment Inspection: Perform routine inspections and functional checks of SCBA equipment.
  • Maintenance and Repairs: Conduct maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs, replacing worn or damaged components.
  • Testing: Perform pressure, airflow, and leak tests to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed service records including inspection, repairs, and testing results.
  • Calibration: Calibrate and adjust SCBA equipment for accurate readings.
  • Training: Train end-users on proper use, care, and maintenance of SCBA equipment.
  • Inventory Management: Manage spare parts inventory for repairs and maintenance.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure equipment meets NFPA and manufacturer standards.
  • Customer Service: Engage with customers and address equipment-related issues.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent is required. Prior experience in servicing and maintaining SCBA equipment is highly desirable. Additional technical training or certification is preferred. Must have REAL-ID for travel on federal sites.

Desired Characteristics

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills and mechanical aptitude.

Preferred Experience

Experience with HVAC, small engine repair, firefighting equipment, hydraulics, cabling, vehicles, and electrical systems.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and carry equipment (up to 50 lbs) and meet physical fitness requirements.

Additional Information

This position requires relocation to Western North Carolina and 100% travel. A company service vehicle is provided along with uniforms and specialty tools (basic hand tools are employee provided).
