Your Day to Day Life
We are looking for a Remote Contract Auditor in USA. Your mission will be to conduct supplier evaluations at the points of manufacture, distribution, or delivery.
Main Activities
- Conduct audits such as those related to GMP/Food Safety Systems and/or GFSI benchmarked schemes like BRC, FSSC22000, SQF, IFS, GLOBALG.A.P.
- Maintain confidentiality about all aspects of work and adhere to all procedures established by Merieux NutriSciences Certification and/or its auditing clients.
- Maintain applicable professional development required for audit proficiency.
- Assure consistency and accuracy in all audits and audit reports, including content, grammar, spelling, and submission of the final report according to identified timelines.
- Follow and adhere with all required protocols and procedures, including scheduling work per agreed upon criteria and maintaining cost effectiveness in all expenses.
- Communicate all reports and other related information in a timely manner.
- Maintain all of Merieux NutriSciences auditing equipment in working order.
- Maintain all documents and standards received from Merieux NutriSciences or clients in an organized manner.
- Support corporate quality and continuous improvement processes.
- Perform other related duties as needed.
Your Profile
Self-discipline and organizational skills to ensure that schedule is maintained and audits are performed correctly. Strong interpersonal skills are necessary to tactfully and objectively discuss audit findings with plant personnel. Strong computer skills are needed to produce analysis of client data.
Profile Details
- A Bachelor of Science Degree in a food or science related field.
- At least 5 years work experience in the food industry.
- Must have a strong knowledge of food science and quality assurance to accurately perform auditing procedures.
- Must have extensive experience with multiple types of food processing operations to satisfy client requirements of audits.
- A broad knowledge of GMP’s, food safety principles, HACCP and other relevant government regulations.
- Auditing experience in food plant(s) setting is necessary to fulfill auditing business.
- Lead auditor training and training on CPO specific courses (SQF, FSSC, ISO, IFS, BRC, etc) is preferred.

- Ability to ensure the audit is performed within the specified time frame and according to predetermined formats.
- Must be able to work autonomously and deal with situations in a diplomatic and professional manner, as each audit offers unique circumstances.
- Must interpret the criteria of the audit and apply it to the specific client’s situation, determining compliance and assigning non-conformances.
- Works with Audit Coordinators to determine schedule, considering client needs, cost efficiency, and other priorities.
- Provides a summary of non-conformances and submits a full audit report within 3-5 days based upon specific client requirements.
- Audit format is based on predetermined guidelines, client specifications, and Certification Process Owner (CPO) requirements.
Work Environment
This position requires extensive travel (80%+) across the US and occasionally to Canada. When not traveling, the incumbent works out of their home with frequent visits to various manufacturing settings with proper lighting and temperature control. Occasional exposure to laboratory fumes, chemicals, and materials may occur. The environment can involve noise, adverse smells, and extreme temperatures, requiring safety equipment such as lab coats, hair nets, protective shoes, earplugs, and safety glasses. The individual must be able to climb stairs, walk the entire length of a manufacturing facility, and execute audits in restricted zones.
Compensation Range
$60.00 - $80.00/hour
