Job Description
About the Role
Are you knowledgeable about religion or religious studies and eager to shape the future of AI? Large-scale language models are evolving from simple conversational tools into systems capable of interpreting historical texts, analyzing belief systems, and supporting comparative and cultural understanding. With high-quality training data, tomorrow’s AI can help improve religious literacy, support education, and provide more accurate cultural and historical context. That training data begins with you—we need your expertise to help power the next generation of AI.
Responsibilities
We’re looking for individuals with familiarity in areas such as world religions, theology, religious history, philosophy of religion, comparative religion, sacred texts, and cultural or anthropological perspectives on belief systems. You’ll challenge advanced language models on topics such as interpretation of religious texts, historical context, doctrinal differences, ethical frameworks, religious practices, and interfaith perspectives—documenting failure modes so we can strengthen model reasoning and cultural accuracy.
On a typical day, you will engage the model with religious or historical scenarios, analytical and interpretive questions, and cultural context tasks; evaluate accuracy and neutrality; verify logical consistency; capture reproducible error traces; and provide structured feedback to improve prompts, evaluation frameworks, and reasoning quality. You may also help identify where models oversimplify beliefs, misinterpret texts, or present inaccurate historical or cultural information.
Qualifications
A degree in religious studies, theology, history, anthropology, or a related humanities field is preferred but not required. Entry-level candidates with coursework, independent study, teaching experience, or a strong personal or academic interest in religion and cultural studies are encouraged to apply. Clear, metacognitive communication—explicitly articulating reasoning and interpretive steps (“showing your work”)—is essential.
Why Join Us?
Ready to turn your knowledge of religion into the knowledge foundation for tomorrow’s AI? Apply today and help train systems that support education, cultural understanding, and responsible interpretation of complex topics.
Compensation and Benefits
We offer a pay range of $6 to $65 per hour, with the exact rate determined after evaluating your experience, expertise, and geographic location. Final offer amounts may vary from the pay range listed above. As a contractor you’ll supply a secure computer and high-speed internet; company-sponsored benefits such as health insurance and PTO do not apply.
