Job Description

About the Role: Senior Product Manager - Financial Crimes

Risk serves as the critical nervous system behind every exceptional banking experience at Mercury. It meticulously senses, responds, and protects without seeking recognition. While it doesn't initiate movement, its absence can lead to significant disruption.

At Mercury, we are dedicated to building robust systems that accurately identify reliable customers and safeguard their interests. We design intuitive, intelligent experiences, enabling our customers to conduct their daily financial activities with confidence and security. Our commitment extends beyond mere transactions; we strive to cultivate a strong financial ecosystem throughout the entire banking infrastructure.

We are actively seeking a Senior Product Manager to spearhead the advancement of our Financial Crimes systems. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for defining and constructing the core infrastructure that supports our Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Sanctions monitoring and reporting functions.

This position is ideally suited for an individual who perceives platforms not as abstract concepts, but as powerful amplifiers of impact. We are looking for someone who profoundly understands that meticulously structured data and informed decisions form the bedrock for everything from seamless automation to resilient control mechanisms.

What You'll Do

  • Define the vision and comprehensive technical roadmap for Mercury’s FinCrimes team.
  • Build flexible, high precision monitoring platforms to ensure robust oversight.
  • Ensure all reporting requirements are seamless, efficient, and fully compliant.
  • Partner closely with engineering, risk strategy, data science, and risk operations teams to design effective APIs, sophisticated data platforms, intelligent rule engines, and streamlined model orchestration workflows.
  • Enable continuous improvement by designing effective feedback loops that directly link decisions to measurable outcomes.
  • Collaborate with domain Product Managers (e.g., fraud, onboarding) to develop reusable capabilities that minimize redundancy and significantly enhance speed across teams.
  • Establish a comprehensive platform strategy that thoughtfully balances extensibility, resilience, observability, and performance, integrating both internal systems and external partners.
  • Define and diligently track key metrics related to platform health, adoption, and overall impact.

What You Bring

  • 7+ years of progressive product management experience, including substantial time dedicated to building platform or infrastructure products.
  • A solid understanding of the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Sanctions domain.
  • Strong technical fluency, demonstrating the ability to engage deeply with engineering partners while effectively communicating complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • A product mindset that adeptly combines deep customer empathy with robust systems thinking.
  • A proven track record of successfully creating internal tools or platforms that drive speed, consistency, or quality across various product teams.
  • Experience collaborating with Machine Learning (ML)/Data Science (DS) teams to deploy and manage sophisticated risk or scoring models.
  • Comfort in navigating ambiguity and a demonstrated ability to build foundational systems from scratch.
  • Prior experience in risk, compliance, or financial services is a valuable asset, though not strictly required.
