Role Overview

Position: Technical Writer Engagement: Freelance, Remote (~20+ hours/week, ~2 weeks duration with potential for additional tasks) Impact: Contribute to a high-impact AI research project by authoring prompt–golden answer pairs to train and evaluate advanced language models.

Responsibilities

• Review provided PDFs and select appropriate content for prompt–answer generation.
• Write clear, accurate, and insightful golden answers in line with project guidelines.
• Use Markdown for formatting; LaTeX preferred for technical content.
• Ensure all examples are original, relevant, and grounded in source material.
• Collaborate asynchronously with Mercor’s support team for questions or feedback.

Requirements / Qualifications

Must-Have: Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD preferred) in humanities, education, STEM, or related fields; strong writing skills; attention to detail; familiarity with Markdown (required) and LaTeX (preferred); ability to understand and summarize complex content.

Preferred: Experience in prompt writing, technical editing, or curriculum design.

Engagement Details

Compensation: $45/hour Classified as an independent contractor, remote and asynchronous work with payments processed weekly via Stripe Connect.
