About Mercor and the Role

This freelance Sr. Technical Writer position offers a compensation of $35–$40/hour, with a commitment of 20 hours/week for a duration of 2 months. This is a fully remote opportunity for candidates based in the US or Canada.
Role Responsibilities for the Sr. Technical Writer
- Design and optimize prompts with multiple constraints and instructions for AI models.
- Define and document rigorous evaluation standards for correct AI responses within general consumer contexts, developing comprehensive rubrics.
- Conduct thorough model testing and grading, assessing preliminary outputs against defined expectations.
- Support benchmarking and quality assurance efforts.
- Collaborate actively in QA review processes to ensure all prompt tasks and rubrics meet the highest standards of rigor.
- Work independently and consistently meet deadlines while directly contributing to improving AI model performance.
Qualifications
Must-Have
- BS or BA degree from a reputable institution, completed or currently in progress.
- Demonstrated strong writing and critical thinking skills.
- Proven ability to work independently and meet project deadlines effectively.
- Significant familiarity and hands-on experience with ChatGPT or similar generative AI tools.
- Residency in the US or Canada.
Preferred
- Prior experience in teaching or research roles.
Application Process

- Complete a 45-minute written assessment focused on writing rubrics.
