Role Overview

Position: AI Task Designer – Contractor (Remote, up to 40 hours per week, minimum 6 weeks duration). Enhance large-language-model performance by creating and evaluating challenging tasks for AI models.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Mercor coordinators and client research leads to develop innovative AI tasks.
• Design creative and realistic tasks for AI models that are challenging and comprehensive.
• Evaluate AI-generated responses for clarity, accuracy, and comprehensiveness.
• Write gold-standard solutions and provide clear, concise feedback to improve outputs.
• Work independently and asynchronously to meet deadlines and drive continuous improvement.

Requirements / Qualifications

Must-Have Qualifications:

• Experience in technical writing, editing, research analysis or similar roles.
• Proven experience in creating Q&A, summaries, or problem-solving tasks.
• Strong fact-checking and editing skills to polish AI-generated answers.
• Ability to apply analytical judgment to spot inconsistencies in draft outputs.
• Excellent written communication skills with high attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in reading comprehension or curriculum design.
• Background in assessment authorship or instructional design.

Engagement Details

• Hourly contractor paid via Stripe Connect.
• Remote work with a flexible, asynchronous schedule.
• Rolling start dates with work trials sent shortly after application.
• Applicants must be from the U.S., UK, Canada, or Australia.
