About the Role: Senior Research Analyst
As a Senior Research Analyst at Mercor, you will operate as an independent contractor, focusing on enhancing AI model performance. This role involves creating, reviewing, and refining AI-generated responses across a broad spectrum of generalist topics. Your work will directly contribute to improving the clarity, accuracy, and human alignment of AI outputs through iterative prompt development and rigorous quality assurance.
Key Responsibilities
- Create foundational prompts covering a wide array of generalist topics for AI models.
- Review and meticulously revise AI-generated responses to ensure clarity, accuracy, and logical human reasoning.
- Develop and iterate on prompt-response cycles, experimenting with variations in length, style, and system prompts.
- Contribute significantly to benchmarking efforts by identifying and documenting failure points within AI model responses.
- Apply rigorous and consistent quality standards across diverse content formats, including summaries, Q&A, and complex synthesis tasks.
- Work autonomously and asynchronously, ensuring deadlines are met while continuously striving to improve AI model performance.
Qualifications
Must-Have
- 2+ years of professional experience in research, education, writing, editing, or related analytical fields.
- Demonstrated ability to articulate complex subjects with clarity and conciseness.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong critical thinking capabilities.
- Comfort and proficiency in working independently, adapting to evolving project guidelines.
Preferred
- Familiarity with Large Language Models (LLMs) or AI-assisted writing tools.
Compensation & Engagement Details
- Type: Independent Contractor
- Compensation: $35–$45 per hour
- Location: Remote
- Duration: Approximately 2 weeks, with potential for extension based on project needs.
- Commitment: 10–25 hours per week
- Paid weekly via Stripe Connect.
