Role Overview

Position: AI Task Designer – Contractor Hours: Up to 40 hours per week, minimum 6 weeks duration Objective: Enhance large-language-model performance by creating and evaluating challenging tasks for AI models

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Mercor coordinators and client research leads to develop innovative AI tasks.
• Design creative and realistic tasks for AI models ensuring they are challenging and comprehensive.
• Evaluate AI-generated responses for clarity, accuracy, and comprehensiveness across domains.
• Write gold-standard solutions, providing clear feedback to improve AI outputs.
• Work independently in an asynchronous environment to meet deadlines.

Requirements / Qualifications

Must-Have: Experience as technical writer, editor, or research analyst with strong fact-checking and editing skills and the ability to spot inconsistencies. Excellent written communication with high attention to detail.

Preferred: Experience in reading comprehension, curriculum design, assessment authorship or instructional design.

Engagement Details

• Hourly contractor for Mercor paid weekly via Stripe Connect.
• Remote work with flexible, asynchronous schedule.
• Rolling start dates with work trials issued within days of application.
• Applicants must be from the U.S., UK, Canada, or Australia.

Application Process

Complete a short interview and form, then participate in a paid work trial (approximately 4 hours) by completing domain-specific tasks.
