About the Opportunity
Mercor, a company connecting elite creative and technical talent with leading AI research labs, is seeking a dedicated Finance Professional. Based in San Francisco and backed by prominent investors like Benchmark, General Catalyst, Peter Thiel, Adam D'Angelo, Larry Summers, and Jack Dorsey, Mercor offers a dynamic environment. This contract role focuses on leveraging your financial expertise to enhance AI capabilities, working remotely for approximately 10-20 hours per week for 4+ months.
Role Responsibilities
- Author and refine finance-related prompts and expert-level responses across various domains, including valuation, risk, investment theory, and financial modeling.
- Review and edit AI-generated outputs, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and adherence to professional financial standards.
- Generate diverse prompt variants to rigorously test AI model performance under different personas and instruction styles.
- Proactively identify edge-case scenarios or complex question types that could challenge existing AI systems.
- Provide clear, context-sensitive financial explanations suitable for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Qualifications
Must-Have
- Advanced degree in finance, economics, or accounting (e.g., PhD, MBA, or CFA charterholder).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in investment analysis, corporate finance, financial consulting, or academia.
- Demonstrated strong quantitative reasoning and exceptional financial writing skills.
Preferred
- Familiarity with Large Language Model (LLM) capabilities and inherent limitations.
- Prior experience in curriculum design, financial reporting, or technical instruction.
Compensation & Legal
This is an independent contractor position, with weekly payments processed via Stripe Connect. Compensation is set at $70-$80/hour.
