About the Company
Mercor is hiring experienced Chemistry professionals to join an exciting collaboration with a top AI research lab. In this role, you will contribute to the development and evaluation of advanced AI systems designed to replicate real-world workflows across multiple branches of chemistry.
About the Role
The Chemistry Expert role involves developing and evaluating advanced AI systems by applying deep subject-matter expertise in organic, inorganic, physical, analytical, and biochemistry.
Responsibilities
- Create and assess complex chemistry problems across various subdomains.
- Evaluate AI-generated responses for scientific accuracy and relevance.
- Provide clear written feedback on problem sets, mechanisms, and solutions.
- Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and engineers.
- Ensure academic rigor and scientific precision in all chemistry content.
Qualifications
PhD in Chemistry or a directly related field from a top university. An undergraduate degree from the U.S., UK, Canada, or Europe is preferred. Applicants must have deep subject-matter expertise across core chemistry areas, exceptional written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, and analytical thinking. Prior teaching, research, or publication experience is a plus.

Compensation & Schedule
This is a contract role with a competitive hourly rate of $65–$85 USD/hr. It is an independent contractor position with daily payments via Stripe Connect. The role starts immediately with a duration of 1–2 months, commitment of part-time ~20 hours/week with potential to extend up to 40 hours/week. Work is fully remote and asynchronous with flexible working hours.
