Junior Investment Consulting Analyst at Mercer
Mercer is seeking a talented individual to join their Investment Solutions Client team in Lisbon. This hybrid role requires working at least three days a week in the office, supporting Mercer, one of the largest and fastest-growing investment solutions entities globally. This is an exciting opportunity to join an international team looking after over 600 clients across 25 countries, with over $160bn AUM.
You will primarily support UK clients, with potential exposure to wider European clients, including those in Portugal. Investment Solutions, also known as OCIO, delegated solutions, fiduciary management, or implemented consulting, focuses on helping institutional investors efficiently meet their goals. In the UK, clients are mainly defined benefit pension schemes, along with a growing number of insurers, charities, endowments, and foundations.
This role offers the chance to become part of a highly successful client team with approximately 70 colleagues across the UK, Ireland, Lisbon, and India, based alongside the existing Lisbon team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Client Directors and Managers in delivering service excellence and investment advice.
- Manage projects and ongoing workflow, covering performance analysis, strategic asset allocation, and economic commentaries.
- Draft essential documents and prepare compelling PowerPoint presentations.
- Bring together elements of Mercer's solutions for clients, demonstrating strong project management and communication skills.
- Potentially support specialist teams in areas like Responsible Investment, Fixed Income, or Client Reporting.
- Engage directly with investors as the face of the Investment Solutions business.
- Collaborate closely with wider functions including Strategy, Portfolio Management, Risk, and Operations to achieve better client outcomes.
What You Need to Succeed
- Advanced English proficiency (C1/C2).
- A solid understanding of investment markets and various asset classes.
- 1-2 years of experience in an investment or finance-related role, or a recent graduate with a finance-related degree.
- A strong desire to develop understanding on the job and pursue professional qualifications like the CFA.
- Effective listening, strong communication, and excellent organizational skills, coupled with a client-focused approach.
- Ability to thrive in a team environment, share ideas, and present persuasive arguments.
- Exceptional planning and organizational skills to prioritize and manage diverse tasks efficiently.
