Health and Benefits Consultant
As a Health and Benefits Consultant at Mercer, you will provide comprehensive financial, contract, and administrative analysis. You will manage project components, address ad-hoc client requests, and solve administrative and operations issues.
Financial Analysis and Support
- Support financial analysis and review, including underwriting, data analytics, and partnership with actuaries for funding analysis.
Client Strategy and Implementation
- Contribute to the consulting team in developing overall client strategy.
- Interpret and present benchmark data to clients.
- Ensure plan and program changes are properly implemented to embody client strategy.
Project Management
- Demonstrate strong project management skills to ensure the quality and timeliness of deliverables.
- Delegate and review project work of more junior colleagues.
- Manage internal specialty resources to ensure client deliverables meet goals and deadlines.
Client Communication and Reporting
- Assist with the preparation, completion of peer review, and delivery of clear, concise, client-friendly communications.
- Work directly with clients to manage the request for proposal (RFP) process with health insurance carriers and internal analysts.
- Collect and review health benefits information from various sources, including client data, carrier responses, and prepare data in a template format.
- Review transparency documents and ensure compliance with professional standards (templates, client calendar, peer review, transparency).
- Peer review information, analyze and interpret results, edit and finalize the executive summary report for client delivery.
Carrier and Vendor Relationship Management
- Establish necessary carrier/vendor relationships with appropriate contacts to serve clients.
- Handle all administration, including eligibility, claims, billing, plan implementation, contracts, plan changes, and necessary amendments.
