About the role
Science Tutor (Grades 6-8)
Mentor Match is seeking passionate Science Tutors to deliver personalized 1-on-1 online sessions for students in Grades 6-8. You will cater to students following British (Key Stage 3), American (Common Core / NGSS), or IB MYP curricula, teaching integrated science (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology).
Responsibilities:
- Conduct individual sessions tailored to each student's pace and learning style.
- Teach across Physics, Chemistry, and Biology within an integrated science curriculum.
- Create custom content from scratch, including notes, diagrams, worksheets, simple experiments, and practice sets.
- Cover foundational topics such as forces, energy, matter, chemical reactions, cells, human body systems, ecosystems, and the periodic table.
- Make science relatable using everyday examples, visuals, and hands-on activities to spark curiosity.
- Build strong conceptual foundations to prepare students for GCSE, IGCSE, or equivalent senior-level sciences.
- Track progress through regular assessments and adapt teaching approaches accordingly.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Science, Engineering, Education, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching international science curricula (Physics, Chemistry, Biology).
- Prior EdTech or online tutoring experience.
- Demonstrated ability to create original, student-specific learning material.
- Patient, engaging, and skilled at making abstract science concepts accessible to young learners.
Nice to have:
- Experience with inquiry-based or experiment-driven teaching methods in an online setup.
- Familiarity with multiple curricula and the ability to switch between them.
- Track record of building early interest and confidence in science.
