Exciting Opportunity at MSK: Cyber Security Engineer I
At MSK, our Cyber Security Engineer I helps safeguard critical clinical, research, and business systems across one of the world’s leading cancer centers. This role supports our mission by strengthening MSK’s security posture through hands-on testing, analysis, and collaboration with teams across the organization. Successful candidates bring curiosity, foundational security knowledge, and a drive to learn and grow in a dynamic environment.
Role Overview
- Consults with teams to advise on common cybersecurity practices and secure design principles.
- Conducts testing to verify that security controls are implemented and functioning as intended.
- Performs penetration testing activities using tools such as Burp Suite and Kali Linux.
- Analyzes audit logs and provides clear explanations of discovered vulnerabilities.
- Collaborates with colleagues through Teams, email, phone, and other communication forums.
- Supports security incident investigations and vulnerability remediation activities.
- Assists with departmental security projects and process improvement initiatives.
- Documents findings, processes, and testing outcomes clearly and thoroughly.
- Contributes to MSK’s evolving security architecture through hands-on analysis and problem-solving.
Key Qualifications
- Experience or desire to work in Cybersecurity.
- Foundational understanding of secure systems, networks, and common cybersecurity concepts.
- Familiarity with penetration testing tools such as Burp Suite and Kali Linux.
- Basic programming or scripting experience with Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
- Ability to interpret vulnerability findings, audit logs, and security alerts.

- Location: Flexible across MSK locations closest to candidate
- Schedule: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST, Monday - Friday
