The Opportunity: AI Engineer

Are you passionate about Artificial Intelligence and eager to impact the progression of the latest clinical trials into the market? Do you possess a background in data science or computer science with experience in AI tools for interactive applications across various IT systems? If so, Medpace has an exciting opportunity for an AI Engineer.

This role involves working with AI tools such as NLP, LLM, and IA, programming, and fine-tuning these tools, and assisting IT teams in implementing them into new applications. The AI Engineer will collaborate across the organization with multiple teams to enhance process efficiency and provide insights and support to users.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and deploy machine learning models and systems to solve complex problems and drive business outcomes.
• Research, develop, and implement machine learning algorithms and models for tasks such as classification, regression, clustering, anomaly detection, and recommendation systems.
• Research, develop, and implement AI tools including Natural Language Processing (NLP), Large Language Models (LLM), and Intelligent Automation (IA).
• Collect, preprocess, and curate large datasets required for training generative models.
• Experiment with diverse machine learning techniques and algorithms, encompassing supervised, unsupervised, semi-supervised, reinforcement, and deep learning.
• Design and optimize machine learning pipelines and workflows, incorporating data cleaning, feature engineering, model selection, and hyperparameter tuning.
• Develop scalable and efficient machine learning infrastructure and systems for training, testing, and deploying models in production environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Proven experience implementing and fine-tuning Large Language Models or interactive AI applications (at least 1 year post-graduate experience).
• Technical proficiency in programming languages and frameworks commonly used in NLP and AI, such as Python, TensorFlow, and PyTorch.
• Preferably several years of experience working with different AI capabilities, demonstrating passion both professionally and personally.
• Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• A passion for staying current with the latest advancements in NLP and AI technologies.
• Analytical thinker with meticulous attention to detail.
