Original Job Summary
Overview
MDPI is seeking an Assistant Editor to support our Editorial team in the publication of academic research journals. This full-time, in-office, entry level, permanent position is based in the Toronto office.
Responsibilities
- Support the editorial process for academic journals in your domain.
- Organize the peer review process for submitted manuscripts.
- Coordinate editorial decisions and handle email communications.
- Collaborate with the editorial and production teams.
- Ensure scholarly articles are edited and published accurately, meeting tight deadlines.
Requirements
- Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Environmental Sciences, Materials Sciences, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Occupational Health, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Molecular Biology, Oncology, Health Sciences, Nutrition, Food Sciences, Pharmaceutical Science).
- A PhD in any of the above fields is an asset.
- Excellent written and spoken English skills.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong communication, organization, and time management skills.
- Team player with ability to work in an international environment.
- Experience with scholarship publishing, presentations, and writing is an asset.
Training & Development
The successful candidate will receive full on-the-job training supervised by a tutor for the first six months, working closely with Managing Editors to learn the end-to-end editorial process.
