As an Associate Instructional Designer, ELA/SLA within McGraw Hill's K-12 division literacy programs, you will play a crucial role in delivering robust digital tools, curriculum, and learning solutions. You will partner closely with content, product management, UX, and creative media teams to create resources used daily by millions. This role requires a digitally savvy content and curriculum expert responsible for assembling high-quality content based on specific product requirements for our Literacy programs.

This is a remote Project Status Worker (PSW) position with an end date of April 30, 2027, open to applicants authorized to work for any employer within the United States.

What you will be doing:

  • Learn and contribute to program planning and curriculum mapping processes.
  • Learn and contribute to the creation of Proofs of Concept (POCs) and prototypes.
  • Design, storyboard, and develop digital curriculum assets such as videos, eBooks, interactives, simulations, games, and virtual labs, utilizing a Understanding by Design (UBD) process.
  • Review manuscripts, create storyboards, and contribute during alpha and beta builds for digital assets.
  • Learn and provide support with digital tools, operating under the leadership of management and senior team members.
  • Make significant contributions to user testing, guided by management and senior team members.
  • Partner extensively with Instructional Designers during product builds, working under the guidance of Senior team members.
  • Maintain responsibility for the accuracy and upkeep of build documentation.
  • Develop expertise in accessibility and contribute significantly to this area throughout the product development process.
  • Contribute heavily to the overall product build process.
  • Meet all intermediate and final project schedules.
  • Collaborate on cross-functional teams to ensure product requirements, project schedules, and product goals are met on time.
  • Contribute during digital launches with vendors, including assisting in the creation of templates, trackers, and digital content development guidelines.
  • Work with cross-functional team members to identify, test, troubleshoot, define, and follow up on technical bugs and enhancements in authoring tools and the platform.
  • Help define requirements for platform and authoring tool enhancements when necessary.
  • Execute digital product tasks such as metadata tagging, concept mapping, and digital editing.
  • Perform Quality Assurance (QA) on vendor work to ensure adherence to guidelines.
  • Maintain effectiveness and adjust to major changes in work responsibilities or environment (e.g., people, processes, structure, or culture) by exploring benefits, trying new approaches, and collaborating for success.
  • Create novel solutions with measurable value for existing and potential customers, experimenting with new ways to solve problems and seize opportunities.
  • Set high standards of performance for self and others, assuming responsibility and accountability for successful task completion, and self-imposing standards of excellence.
  • Achieve a satisfactory level of technical, functional, and/or professional skill in position-related areas, staying current with developments and trends, and leveraging expert knowledge.
  • Leverage practical knowledge of recent technology tools, solutions, and trends to improve work results, solve problems, and capitalize on new business opportunities.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, or a related field.
  • 1+ years of experience in digital content development, specifically with teaching and learning materials.
  • Experience with authoring tools, learning management systems (LMS), and content management systems (CMS).
  • Ability to create and visualize animated and interactive content.
  • Spanish language fluency is desired.
  • Previous K-5 teaching experience may be beneficial.

The annual pay range for this position is between $41,230 and $55,000. Actual base pay may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
