About the Role
McBride is seeking a UI/UX Designer to support Allied Command Transformation (ACT), NATO’s leading agent for change. This remote role supports digital transformation initiatives by applying user-centered design practices throughout the software lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Apply User-Centered Design practices through the software lifecycle.
- Engage with end users via agile product development for operational needs.
- Establish feedback loops and utilize the Build–Measure–Learn cycle.
- Conduct user research with interviews, usability tests, and surveys.
- Create design artifacts such as sketches, wireframes, and prototypes.
- Ensure designs comply with WCAG, Section 508, and inclusive design standards.
- Collaborate with Product Managers to refine backlogs and prioritize design.
- Support developers with design clarifications to meet user expectations.
- Work within Agile/DevSecOps teams, taking part in standups, demos, and retrospectives.
- Present and communicate design decisions to stakeholders and leadership.
Mandatory Qualifications
- Proven experience with complex web/mobile application design projects.
- Skilled in user research, usability testing, and user-centered design.
- Experience in Agile/DevSecOps environments.
- Proficiency with modern design tools (Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, Axure, InVision).
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Relevant degree in HCI or related field; certification is a plus.
Education & Clearance
University degree in HCI, Human Factors, or related discipline. Must be a citizen and physically located in a NATO member nation.
