About the role
MBN Solutions is partnering with an innovative aerospace and defence technology company developing next-generation autonomous aircraft and advanced Command & Control (C2) software for large-scale swarming UAV operations.
Our client is building technology that enables operators to coordinate and control thousands of autonomous assets in real time, combining cutting-edge software with world-class aerospace engineering. Backed by an experienced leadership team with successful exits and deep expertise across aerospace, autonomy and defence, the business is entering an exciting period of growth.
They are now looking to appoint a Full Stack Engineer to help shape the future of their mission-critical software platform.
The Opportunity
As a Full Stack Engineer, you'll play a key role in developing a sophisticated Command & Control platform that enables real-time mission planning and coordination of autonomous aircraft swarms.
Working across both frontend and backend technologies, you'll design and deliver high-performance applications that provide operators with intuitive situational awareness and mission control capabilities. This is an opportunity to work on software that directly interacts with complex physical systems in demanding real-world environments.
You'll collaborate closely with software, autonomy, and mission engineering teams to build scalable, resilient systems that support the next generation of autonomous aviation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop modern frontend applications for advanced Command & Control systems.
- Build distributed, real-time software capable of coordinating large fleets of autonomous aircraft in environments with intermittent connectivity.
- Develop intuitive user interfaces for visualising mission data, telemetry, sensor information, scheduling, communications and operational resources.
- Take ownership of full-stack features throughout the entire software development lifecycle, from design through to deployment.
- Deliver high-quality software using modern engineering practices including CI/CD, automated testing, DevSecOps and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering teams to solve complex technical challenges and deliver reliable, scalable software.
About You
We're looking for an experienced software engineer with strong full-stack development skills and a passion for solving technically challenging problems.
You'll likely bring:
- A degree in Computer Science or equivalent commercial experience.
- 4+ years' experience developing complex full-stack applications.
- Strong experience across both frontend and backend development.
- Commercial experience building web applications using React or similar modern frontend frameworks.
- A solid understanding of UI/UX principles with the ability to create intuitive, user-focused interfaces.
- Experience designing, developing, and deploying production software in agile engineering environments.
Desirable Experience
Any of the following would be highly advantageous:
- Development of real-time or performance-critical applications.
- Experience with immediate mode or game-engine style user interfaces alongside traditional retained mode UI frameworks.
- Knowledge of video streaming technologies and communication protocols.
- Experience with WebGL, OpenGL or advanced visualisation technologies.
- Working knowledge of C++.
- Experience developing geospatial or mapping applications.
- Exposure to robotics, autonomous systems, aerospace or defence technologies.
Why Join?
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to software at the forefront of autonomy, aerospace and defence innovation. You'll work alongside an exceptional engineering team, solving highly complex technical challenges while building software that has a direct impact on the future of autonomous operations.
If you're passionate about modern software engineering, distributed systems and developing technology that operates in the real world, we'd love to hear from you.
